A wonderful wetland sanctuary situated in the middle of the city of Colombo of the Western Province of Sri Lanka.

I didn’t know this particular park existed and stumbled upon it accidentally. There’s a 100 rupee entrance fee per person and inside the park is a completely different, wetland environment... Read More even though it’s a short walking distance to the main road. It’s similar to Beddegana park, but not as extensive to explore. I love the walkways that’s been built and how it blends seamlessly with the natural environment. It’s mostly couples that were at the park when I visited, which is pretty standard. I only wish the walking paths covered more of an area. But I definitely recommend visiting if you want to spend some time in nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city without having to travel too far.

This urban wetland park has a nice trail with a watch hut and a few spots to sit and rest along the way, which you can cover in about 30... Read More - 40 minutes. Interestingly, it has a restaurant area, a conference hall, and a couple of classrooms in the middle of the wetland which can be hired for functions including weddings, corporate events and teaching, etc. Activities are allowed in the evening and night as well. You may inquire the landscape division of the UDA for more details. The entrance is located in the Nippon Avenue, just about 150m from the Polduwa Bridge. There's a Rs. 100 entry free for adults and Rs. 50 for teenagers. There's ample parking near the entrance.
